USB-C defines smaller, non-twisting connectors with more contacts. These enable higher charging currents and voltages and, in addition to USB, also transport Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, PCI Express or analog audio signals. USB Type C also eliminates the need to differentiate between the device and host sides, since both sides have the same connector.
